Costco's two purchase surfaces: online and in-warehouse

Most retailers ship a single purchase log: every transaction lives behind one orders page. Costco does not work that way. Members shop in two places that produce two different streams of records, and the stream a member usually cares about is the one that ends up missing from most third-party tools.

The first surface is costco.com — online orders, shipped to your address or scheduled for warehouse pickup, with prices, taxes, and tracking numbers attached. The second surface is the in-warehouse receipt: every time a membership card is scanned at a register, the line items are tied back to that membership and made available later through the orders-and-purchases page. Treadmills, prescriptions, gas, optical, the food-court rotisserie chicken — if it went through a cashier, it lands here.

Members who care about FSA reimbursement, business expense tracking, or year-end tax prep usually want both. The wrinkle is that competing extensions tend to handle online orders only and stop there.

The unique wedge: both streams in one export

Order History Downloader is the only Chrome extension on the Web Store at v1.0 (May 2026) that pulls online Costco orders and in-warehouse receipts in one click. Both streams land in the same in-page viewer, where they can be sorted, filtered, and exported together or separately depending on what is needed.

How to view Costco purchase history (without the extension)

Costco does provide a built-in view for both streams. It works fine for a quick lookup but does not scale once an FSA spreadsheet, an accountant request, or a multi-year audit gets involved.

1. Sign in to costco.com.
2. Open My Account, then click Orders & Purchases.
3. Toggle between the Online Orders tab and the In-Warehouse tab.
4. For each receipt, click View Receipt to see the line items, then use the browser print dialog if a PDF copy is needed.

The friction point is volume. A member with five years of history clicking through receipts one at a time, saving each as a PDF, then renaming the file for the FSA submission folder — that is an evening of work, and most spreadsheet tools choke on the copy-paste output Costco offers.

Export with Order History Downloader (about 60 seconds)

Costco pharmacy receipts and optical-center receipts both land in the in-warehouse stream, which is exactly the stream that benefits administrators ask for at reimbursement time. Filter the in-page viewer to the relevant rows, select the ones being submitted, and click Bulk PDF. The export streams 50 receipts into one ZIP in about 30 seconds, ready to attach to the claim form.

For mixed-eligibility shopping carts (a prescription bought alongside groceries), the line-item view shows each SKU on its own row so the eligible portion can be evidenced without dragging the rest of the basket along.

Business buyers: invoices and Costco Business Center

Members who buy through Costco Business Center get the same export. Invoice-style purchase records with taxes broken out, ready for the multi-sheet Excel workbook or the bulk-PDF flow. For bookkeepers running a recurring close, the CSV is the right format — column headers stay consistent month over month, so a QuickBooks import map only has to be configured once.

How the import actually works: receiptsWithCounts
